How the tax is worked out

Multiply your monthly salary by 12 and add any bonus. Find the slab your yearly total falls in, take the fixed amount for that slab, and add the slab rate on the part above the slab's lower limit. Example: Rs. 150,000 a month is Rs. 1,800,000 a year. That is in the Rs. 1,200,001 – 2,200,000 slab, so tax = Rs. 6,000 + 11% of Rs. 600,000 = Rs. 72,000 a year, or Rs. 6,000 a month.

Slabs: salaried individuals, tax year 2027 (1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027), First Schedule of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 as changed by the Finance Act 2026. The 9% surcharge on salary income above Rs. 10 million was withdrawn for salaried people. This tool does not include tax credits, zakat or pension deductions, or tax on other income. For your exact liability, check the FBR website (fbr.gov.pk) or ask a tax advisor.

How much tax is on a Rs. 100,000 monthly salary in 2026-27?

Rs. 100,000 a month is Rs. 1,200,000 a year. Tax is 1% of the Rs. 600,000 above the tax-free limit, which is Rs. 6,000 a year or Rs. 500 a month.
